Croquet is an increasingly popular sport in the United States, and the Steelwood Country Club has a beautiful croquet court!
For people unfamiliar with the game, croquet at The Steelwood Country Club is not what you played in your backyard as a youngster. The six-wicket croquet games played here, derived from the 160-year-old British sport, are much more difficult than you might think. The Steelwood Croquet Association Club holds practice games and tournaments that pair beginners with more experienced players to help new players learn the game.
Members of Steelwood Country Club are invited to join The Steelwood Croquet Association by calling Ann Faulkner at 251.964.5308 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Steelwood Croquet Association also offers an ambitious schedule of tournaments each season, and you can play in as many of these as you like. Friendly competition is at the heart of The Steelwood Croquet Association.

There are literally miles of secure trails for morning walks and runs. Or spend your day exploring our nature trails. The trails wind through dense pine woods that border our lake. Several ecosystems can be explored. This is a good place to view quail, deer, fish, and an occasional river otter. Blue jays, cardinals, woodpeckers, raccoons, and gray squirrels are just some of our year-round residents too. Colorful resident breeding birds include the Orchard Oriole, Eastern Towhee, Summer Tanager, Blue Grosbeak, and Eastern Bluebird. Musical calls are heard from the Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Pine Warbler, and the secretive Wood Thrush. Adding to theses sounds are five species of woodpeckers and flickers, as well as the calls of herons and egrets. The Lake hosts Purple Gallinules, a rare and beautiful breeding resident. Last fall brought seven species of ducks to the lake, including the beautiful Goldeneyes. Three Bald Eagles and two Ospreys accompanied them, and stayed for months. Detailed information on the bird life of Steelwood is available for interested clients.
